Garynahine estate

 

Garynahine estate is situated in a superb setting on the west coast of Lewis,close to the shores of Loch Roag,opening on to the Atlantic Ocean.It is a wonderful all-round Hebridean sporting estate with a mix of sporting opportunities troughout both the summer and winter seasons. The estate extends to about 11500 Acres of moorlands and 500 acres of conifer plantations. It is located within easy reach of Stornoway and in the right conditions offers exceptional summer salmon and trout fishing,  grouse and snipe over pointers, and very special winter woodcock shooting

Garynahine has a wide variety of sport,offering not only superb fishing on the river Blackwater,and driven woodcock shooting,but also the privilege of obtaining a "Macnab".With no reared birds,the shooting is entirely wild .Grouses and snipes are shot over pointers in the traditional manner from late August until November. Wildfowl provide challenging morning and evening sport .Whilst the ground is low lying,the deep peat hags offer uniquely exciting stalking ground and some excellent stags have been shot over the years .

Barvas Estate is something of a rarity offering exciting wild sport for nearly ten months of the year.In spring and summer there is wonderful salmon and trout fishing ; in autumn the grouses over pointers ,snipe, wildfowl provinding exciting sport and there is the opportunity to venture to the hills for stags stalking and woodcock shooting 

BARVAS ESTATE 

 

Barvas estate extend approximately 34200 acres of moorland providing consistent grouse shooting over pointers.

Barvas had a long reputation for offering in the past some of the most prolific and exciting snipe shooting and migrating woodcock ariving from late autumn trought the winter offer testing sport among sheltered cover along the foot of the hills .The hill ground is an excellent habitat for red deer and with the unspoiled varying terrain and breath taking views it provides stimulting stalking country.

The estate owns the majority of the river Blackwater ,consisting of some 3.5 miles of double bank fishing with 23 named pools and over 40 freshwater trout lochs.The river holds Salmon and Sea trout principally from the end of june until the season ends in mid october,but it s possible to catch fish in the spring.

BARVAS ESTATE

 

The Barvas river is the most prolific one on the estate with august and september offering the best sport .In the earlier months of the season fishing is generally confined to the loch Barvas which is most effectively fished from a boat  .The loch  Barvas extend to about 245 acres and is relatively shallow with some deeper pools. The Arnol river could provide as well some exciting sport .
